Our Very First Adoption Fund: The Goldens May 11 2014, 0 Comments

One of the most important and exciting things I had in mind when launching Swell Forever was the opportunity to help adoptive families manage the incredible costs involved in providing a forever family to a child in need. I debated waiting until we had the baby line launched and a lot more inventory in stock, but time is of the essence for the Golden family. So here we go!

We have selected Kelsey and Dan Golden as our very first recipients of the Swell Forever™ Adoption Fund. While we may be small, I am confident we can help them inch closer to carrying home their second son, Michael, from Uganda. They are no stranger to adoption and started their family a few years ago through domestic adoption with their toddler son, Max. You can learn a lot more about their story and follow Kelsey's blog at Heart Knit Home. She has always had a heart for adoption!

Michael is considered a "waiting child." Although the Goldens cannot disclose the exact issues surrounding his placement on this "list," the government of Uganda has fast tracked his adoption so he is no longer waiting for a family to call his own. Whereas most international adoptions in Uganda take at least 12-24 months, the Goldens are scrambling to finish raising $45,000 in less than nine! They specifically need help with travel costs.

While a portion of all Swell Forever™ original gifts such as Forever Blankets and Forever Birds™ will benefit this family, all profits from the Love is Waiting Collection will go towards helping bring Michael home. If you have any baby gifts to purchase, Why not consider the Carry Me Home onesies? They weather the wash fabulously and have their very own story! If you are looking to honor a loved one with an heirloom treasure, we are offering the Forever Blankets™ for $150 with $30 of each purchase going to the Goldens. And as always, to lift someone up in a dark time or to simply make them feel loved, our Forever Birds™ are a truly unique surprise to receive by mail.

And what's most exciting, you can simply contribute directly to the Goldens if your heart so desires at Pure Charity.

Kelsey has had two major back surgeries, depleting their financial resources. Adoptive families often face numerous challenges in pulling together enough funding to finalize their adoption. They host countless fundraisers, sell t-shirts and gifts, and pound the pavement to meet the deadlines required for their adoption. And even after the adoption is finalized, they will face additional costs in raising this new addition. A handful of small donations can mount up to a considerable sum and will do a lot to encourage this precious family.

Please share the Golden's story on Facebook, Pinterest, via email, etc. We are anxious to see Michael receive his gift of a Swell Forever with your much appreciated help!
